Demo of the FITCAMX dashcam for Jaguar F-Type.

Here’s a dashcam that is moulded to integrate with and draw power from the Jaguar F-Type mirror and rain sensor to integrate, almost seamlessly, with the rest of the car.

Step 1: Order parts & tools

FITCAMX got me to take some pics of the existing rear view mirror mount to confirm the right part. FITCAMX.

Step 2: Remove plastic surrounding mirror mount

The kit from FITCAMX included a trim removal tool and the following instruction video.

Step 3: Connect power and dashcam

Unclip the power for rear view mirror, a little harness cable connects in and has a new socket for the rear view mirror cable.

Step 4: Clip everything back together again

Tidy the cables as best you can and tuck them into the new plastic moulded cover over the rear view mirror mount.

Almost seamless

The mount extends about 1cm longer than the orignal part (there is a camera added after all.) This means it overshoots the fritt (black area of windshield) by about 1cm. The kit includes a bit of sticky plastic to cover the gap. Not perfect but not too bad.
